The role
Mobile Patrol Officers cover a portfolio of sites across a defined geography — conducting external and internal patrols, lock-and-unlock services, alarm response, key-holding, and visible deterrence patrols at sites without dedicated officers. The role suits officers who prefer driving and varied sites to a static post, and clients who want covered presence across many sites without staffing each one.
Who it suits
The role suits confident drivers who are comfortable working alone, composed at unsociable-hours alarm activations, and disciplined with reporting. It is well-suited to officers stepping out of door work into a more independent role.
A typical shift
Twelve-hour shifts, day or night. The shift begins with a route briefing, followed by patrols across assigned sites (typically 6 to 12 in a shift), alarm response from the control room, lock-and-unlock services at agreed times, patrol logging with timestamp and location evidence (NFC tags, GPS), and incident handling per the control room procedure.
Requirements & expectations
- SIA Security Guard or Door Supervisor Licence — mandatory and current
- Full UK driving licence with no current bans — 6 points or fewer typically required by insurers
- Right to work in the UK and Enhanced DBS where sites require
- Independent working — most of the shift is solo
- Composed response to alarms and lone-incident management
- Strong written English for patrol reports
- Familiarity with patrol-management systems (Deister, Guardtek, or similar)
