The role
Commercial Cleaners cover offices, retail spaces, schools, residential blocks, and public buildings — the daily and periodic cleaning that keeps an occupied space functional and presentable. The work is recognisably cleaning, but the variables are real: chemical handling, floor care, washroom servicing, periodic deep cleans, and the consistent rhythm that makes cleaning visible only when it is absent.
Who it suits
The role suits workers who take pride in cleaning to a high standard and can keep pace through a defined daily schedule. It is well-suited to experienced cleaners moving in from contract or in-house roles, and to those who prefer a steady single-site assignment to event or one-off work.
A typical shift
Six to ten hours, typically early mornings (5am to 9am) for office and retail cleans, or late evenings (6pm to 10pm) for occupied-building cleans. The shift runs to a daily schedule of areas, plus periodic deeper cleans of carpets, floors, and washrooms. COSHH-compliant chemical use and colour-coded equipment are standard.
Requirements & expectations
- Right to work in the UK
- Commercial cleaning experience preferred
- COSHH and safe use of cleaning chemicals
- Manual handling awareness
- Reliability — commercial cleans run to fixed schedules
- Comfortable working alone or as part of a small crew
- Enhanced DBS where the site requires it, such as schools, residential or public buildings
Skills you’ll gain

- A path into Cleaning Supervisor, Account Manager and FM roles
