The role
Breakfast Chefs run the morning service in hotels and serviced apartments — covering hot buffet, eggs to order, continental setup, and the steady pace of guests cycling through between 6:30 and 10:30am. The role demands organisation, composure, and a dependable service rhythm. A well-run breakfast service significantly affects guest satisfaction and reviews.

A typical shift
Shifts typically run from 5:30am or 6am to 1pm. The day begins in a kitchen prepped overnight (or that the chef will prep), followed by buffet setup, full service — hot stations, eggs to order, allergens and dietary requests on demand — then close-down, restock for the next morning, and handover to the lunch team. The shift is contained, structured, and finishes early.
Requirements & expectations
- Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene minimum
- Right to work in the UK
- Allergen awareness training — Natasha’s Law standard
- Breakfast or all-day dining experience in hotels or quality restaurants
- Ability to work solo or as part of a small breakfast brigade
- Comfortable starting before sunrise and maintaining tempo through service
- Knife skills and confidence with the basics across hot, cold, and pastry sections
Skills you’ll gain
