The role
Spa Therapists deliver massages, facials, body treatments, and bespoke spa rituals to guests of luxury hotels, day spas, members' clubs, and destination spas. You'll work to a treatment menu — often a brand-led one — managing your treatment room, your bookings, and your retail conversations through the day.
Who it suits
You'll thrive here if you're a qualified therapist who takes the craft seriously — calm, attentive, professional. Comfortable working with a brand's protocols. Comfortable reading a guest, recommending well, and turning a one-off booking into a regular.
A typical shift
You'll arrive early to set up your room — linen, oils, products, ambience — review your booking sheet, and work through treatments, typically 60–90 minutes with a clean reset between each. Quieter periods are for product knowledge, retail follow-ups, and supporting the team. You'll close down the room cleanly and hand over the day's notes.
Requirements & expectations
- NVQ Level 3 in Beauty Therapy or Massage, or equivalent (CIBTAC, CIDESCO, ITEC, VTCT)
- Treatment-specific qualifications were required (advanced facials, hot stone, pre-natal, etc.)
- Public liability insurance
- Right to work in the UK
- Smart, professional appearance and warm chairside manner
Skills you’ll gain
- Brand-specific protocols (ESPA, Aromatherapy Associates, Elemis and others)
- Advanced techniques and treatment specialisms
- Retail conversion and consultative recommendation
- Spa hygiene, sanitisation, and treatment-room standards
