A typical shift
Twelve-hour shifts, day or night, typically follow a continuous gatehouse rota. The shift includes managing vehicle arrivals, checking paperwork, using ANPR or weighbridge systems where relevant, authorising dock access, carrying out scheduled site patrols, monitoring CCTV, managing contractor and visitor access, logging site movements, and responding to incidents. The pace is steady, with a high volume of activity throughout the shift.
Requirements & expectations
- SIA Security Guard Licence — mandatory and current
- Right to work in the UK and Enhanced DBS where the site requires
- Logistics or industrial security experience preferred
- Confidence with ANPR systems, weighbridges, and vehicle paperwork
- Comfortable in industrial environments and PPE-compliant working
- Strong written English for movement logs and incident reports
- Composed authority with drivers and contractors
